Health & Safety Manager (FMCG) £45,000 – £55,000

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a leading FMCG client, based near to Nantwich. The Health & Safety Manager will work as part of the senior management team and take lead of H&S Management across the full operation.

Job summary:

  • As part of the site Management team take the lead in Health & Safety management across all site operations.

  • Drive improvements in Health & Safety performance and assist with site implementation of other risk initiatives including site security, asset conservation and business continuity. 

  • Demonstrate functional management and technical skills to mitigate business risks associated with environment, health and safety performance and legislative compliance.

  • Drive leadership of continuous improvement in these areas in line with Agro Merchants European and Global expectations and accepted international best practice.

  • Facilitate associated performance monitoring and cost benefit/avoidance.

    Duties:

  • In conjunction with the site Management team lead the development of H&S objectives/targets and implementation of best practices

  • Determine the priorities on H&S actions/initiatives and successfully transfer these to operational plans with assigned owners and timeframes relevant to the level of risk.

  • Ensuring suitable and sufficient systems (policies, management systems, internal controls, equipment, etc.) are competently applied across all departments e.g. Agro Merchants Safety Process, Environmental Management Systems

  • Provide qualitative and quantitative information on H&S (e.g., performance statistics, performance reviews, business risks, professional opinions)

  • Lead the completion of H&S incident investigations and Learning Reviews for incidents that have High Potential (HiPo)

  • Ensure Capital Application Requests (CAR’s) are reviewed to ensure H&S requirements are met.

  • Proactively approving H&S related changes in design, and operation of facilities (i.e. at milestones for new projects)

  • Drive the development of on-site H&S competencies and understanding of H&S through developing and presenting inspiring Management / Supervisor Training

    The ideal candidate:

  • Diploma in Occupation Safety and Health and or Environmental

  • Associate level certification to IEMA and or General certification NEEBOSH

  • Minimum 5 years experience in EHS / Safety Management roles

  • Proven understanding and experience of legal systems, regulatory enforcement processes and relevant legislation.

  • Experience in dealing with regulatory agencies (i.e. HSE, Environment Agency, city / district / regional councils)

  • Understanding and experience of Safety / Environmental Management Systems OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001, ISO14001 / EMAS

  • Knowledge of Safety II / Safety differently principles, HOP (Human Organisational Performance) is preferable

     

 

The role is 42.5 hours per week, the company offer an excellent benefits package including 33 days holiday
