Production Planner 

One of our key Clients in Stoke are looking for a Production Planner to join their team! This is a broad role with interesting challenges and scope to bring about significant change within the business.

The package for of the Production Planner will be:

  • Salary: £20,000 – £25,000 DOE
  • Hours: 08:00 to 16:45 Monday to Friday with 15-minute morning break and 30-minute lunch break
  • Paid Holidays: 20 days plus bank holidays

Responsibilities for the Production Planner:

You will be responsible for the planning function, data collection and entry relating to efficiency measurement for the site by continuously monitoring and developing the Excel based scheduling system that we use. Your responsibilities are to ensure all the planning tools are correctly used, updated and accurate in line with new products or process changes, de-listing lapsed products and making commercial updates. Using Sage Accounts, Sage Manufacturing, and Excel, you will carry out reviews of product sales and stocking levels and use your analytic skills to determine appropriate reorder levels and batch sizes. You will also deal with all exception reports, operating policies and procedures and make recommendations on best practice.

There will also be projects to carry out that are linked to efficiency improvement. These may include subjects like; analysis and changes to work methods, Improvements to planning process, changes to working procedures, factory layout.

Day to day tasks:

  • Co-ordinate production workflow for multiple products
  • Assist in the scheduling of sales orders into the production schedules as they arrive in from customers
  • Plan and prioritise operations so that the goods are ready in time for outbound loading
  • Determine and ensure on time arrival of raw materials, tooling and other related consumables to cover production demand
  • Assign production staff to machinery operations depending on demand
  • Carry out constant monitoring of production to minimise delays, addressing any issues that arise and with experience be able to predict and resolve an issue before it becomes a problem
  • Collaborating with other internal teams in order to ensure a smooth production process from planning to delivery of finished goods into stock
  • Communicating with key suppliers to ensure on time delivery of material to meet production requirement
  • Prepare and submit status and performance reports
  • Keep paperwork (virtual and actual) organised
  • Participate in improvement projects

  • IT and Numeracy skills (advanced/expert in Excel Spreadsheets)

  • Previous experience in Production Planning highly advantageous
