A high-achieving and inclusive secondary school in South West London is seeking a confident and experienced Behaviour Mentor to join their pastoral team immediately.
This is a specialist behaviour-focused role — ideal for graduates in Psychology or related fields who have strong experience managing challenging behaviour and are serious about a career in education, youth work, pastoral care, or mental health.
We are looking for someone fair but firm, calm under pressure, and able to build positive relationships with students while maintaining high expectations for behaviour, attendance, personal development, and academic engagement.
The Role
This position centres on improving behaviour, engagement, emotional regulation, and student wellbeing across KS3 & KS4.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Supporting students who display challenging or disruptive behaviour
• Delivering 1:1 and small group behaviour interventions
• Acting as a consistent, authoritative presence around the school
• De-escalating incidents calmly and professionally
• Supporting students in internal isolation or reflection rooms
• Working closely with Heads of Year, SLT, SEND and the safeguarding team
• Identifying barriers to learning and implementing behaviour support plans
• Encouraging accountability, resilience, positive choices, and personal growth
• Promoting high standards of behaviour, attendance, punctuality, and conduct
• Supporting students' social, emotional, and personal development
• Building strong professional relationships with students and families where appropriate
• Contributing to the wider pastoral provision and helping create a positive school culture
You will play a key role in helping students re-engage with learning, develop self-confidence, and achieve success while maintaining the school's high standards and expectations.
Who We're Looking For
• A degree (essential) – Psychology or related field preferred
• Strong experience working with young people displaying challenging behaviour
• Confident, resilient, and emotionally intelligent
• Able to remain calm and assertive in high-pressure situations
• Clear communicator with natural authority
• Passionate about behaviour management, pastoral care, and student development
• Committed to helping young people overcome barriers and achieve their potential
• Right to work in the UK (essential)
