KPI Education is working in partnership with a number of welcoming and high-achieving primary and secondary schools across Lewisham and Greenwich that are seeking ambitious Psychology graduates to join their teams as Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistants for the full academic year.

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain first-hand experience supporting pupils with a wide range of learning, behavioural, emotional, and social needs while developing the skills and knowledge required for a long-term career in education or psychology.

Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – The Role

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and specialist support staff to ensure pupils receive the guidance and support they need to succeed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils across a range of year groups
  • Assisting students with additional learning, behavioural, emotional, or social needs
  • Supporting pupils with SEND, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and SEMH needs
  • Delivering targeted interventions designed to improve academic progress and wellbeing
  • Building positive relationships that promote confidence, resilience, and engagement
  • Supporting classroom learning and lesson delivery
  • Monitoring pupil progress and contributing to support plans where appropriate
  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Candidate Requirements

  • A degree in Psychology or a closely related subject
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
  • An interest in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Teaching, Counselling, or related careers
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is advantageous but not essential
  • Applicants must live within approximately one hour's commute of SE3 0TA and be able to travel reliably to their placement school each day
