Ensuring Safety from Farm to Fork: Celebrating World Food Safety Day

Ensuring Safety from Farm to Fork: Celebrating World Food Safety Day

Celebrated every June 7th is World Food Safety Day. A day when people worldwide focus on the importance of keeping food free from contaminants and diseases. Unsafe food can cause over 200 diseases, ranging from diarrhoea to cancers, and approximately 1 in 10 people fall ill yearly from eating contaminated food.

At KPI Hospitality, we are committed to supporting food safety through our robust recruitment strategy. Our approach ensures that every candidate we place is well-equipped to uphold the highest standards of food safety.

Training and Qualifications

We emphasise training by offering comprehensive online e-learning courses for chefs and front-of-house teams. Our training covers essential topics such as food safety, allergens and more. This ensures that every member of the team is knowledgeable and prepared to maintain food safety standards.

To enhance transparency and traceability, we use cloud-based software for qualifications. This allows access from across the platform, ensuring that our clients can easily verify the credentials of our candidates. This system fosters trust and reliability, making sure that qualifications are always up-to-date and accessible.

Data Profiles and Expertise

At KPI Hospitality, we believe in knowing our candidates beyond their CVs. We create detailed data profiles that showcase practical skills and industry knowledge. This enables us to present candidates who not only meet the job requirements but also fit well within the culture and specific needs of each business. Our industry-based expertise allows us to make informed recommendations, ensuring the best match between candidates and clients.

With over 50 years of combined experience in the hospitality sector, our team understands that standards can vary between businesses. We take the time to understand each client’s unique standards and deliver candidates who meet these specific requirements.

Regional Compliance and Dedicated Service

We also cover regional safety standards, including those in Scotland, which have unique temperature regulations and protection measures such as the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme. Our team ensures that all training and qualifications meet these regional standards, providing peace of mind for our clients.

Our dedicated account managers meticulously check all CVs, ensuring that personality and passion are considered alongside qualifications. We believe that an algorithm cannot capture the full essence of a candidate, so we rely on our experienced hospitality team to make the right choices.

Nationwide Expertise

From Surrey to Glasgow, our hospitality experts understand the diverse needs of businesses across the UK. We are committed to delivering the best candidates at competitive prices, ensuring that our clients receive elite service no matter where they are located.

World Food Safety Day serves as a reminder for businesses to take accountability, and at KPI Hospitality, we take this responsibility seriously, integrating it into our recruitment processes to ensure that the hospitality industry continues to thrive with well-trained, knowledgeable, and passionate professionals. By prioritising food safety, we contribute to a healthier, safer future for all.

As Tony Lewis, our Hospitality Business Development Manager, put it, "Ensuring our candidates are well-versed in food safety standards is fundamental to protecting public health and supporting our clients' success. As well as hygiene, avoiding allergen contamination has become a key requirement for any establishment preparing food as the public becomes more aware and seemingly more susceptible to food allergies.”
