Your duties and responsibilities as a Food Production Operative are:
- Pack finished products efficiently and accurately
- Prepare products for dispatch in line with customer requirements

KPI Recruiting Ltd are looking for a Yard/ Plant Operative to join our client based in Deeside. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established recycling facility offering full-time, ongoing work with a competitive hourly rate.
The rate of pay as a Yard/ Plant Operative is:

The working days and hours as a Yard/ Plant Operative are:
- 5 out of 7 days per week
- Week 1: 06:00- 14:00 (rotating) Week 2: 14:00- 22:00
As a Yard/ Plant Operative, you will play a vital role in the safe and efficient day-to-day running of the site. You will be responsible for sorting recyclable materials, maintaining a clean and safe working environment, carrying out routine inspections of plant and equipment, and supporting the movement and storage of materials around the site. Candidates who hold the appropriate licences will also operate plant machinery to assist with loading, unloading, and stock management.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload containers and curtain-sided vehicles using a Forklift Truck (FLT).
- Operate authorised plant equipment, including a Loading Shovel, 360 Excavator, or Bobcat, where qualified.
- Sort and inspect incoming recyclable materials, removing any non-conforming or unsuitable items in line with company procedures.
- Carry out daily pre-use inspections of plant, machinery, and equipment, ensuring all items are safe to operate and accurately completing inspection records.
- Conduct regular inspections of the yard and operational areas, reporting any defects, hazards, or maintenance issues promptly.
- Rotate stock and materials around the site to maximise operational efficiency.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, ensuring the yard and work areas remain clean, tidy, and safe.
- Work closely with the Weighbridge Operator to coordinate the movement of inbound and outbound materials and support effective stock control.
- Comply with all Health & Safety, Environmental, and company procedures at all times.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the Site Manager.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a yard, recycling, waste management, industrial, manufacturing, or similar environment.
- Valid Forklift Truck (FLT) licence and experience operating a forklift.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures.
- Ability to work rotating shifts.
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual handling duties.

Forklift Operations:

- Loading and unloading- offload incoming chemicals shipments from delivery HGVs and load finished products onto outgoing transport vehicles safely
- Bulk stacking- use FLT to stack and organize high-density paint inventories into specialized racking systems, ensuring load stability
- Equipment safety checks- conduct daily inspections on the FLT to detect hydraulic leaks or mechanical faults, ensuring the vehicle is fully safe for explosive atmosphere
Warehouse Operations:
- Order picking and packing- accurately pick products and materials from warehouse shelves based on pick sheets, ensuring they are packed securely according to transport safety standards
- Material segregation- organize stock according to safety guidelines to ensure proper separation of different material categories
- Waste management- collect and transport warehouse waste streams to designated containment zones in accordance with site safety procedures
- Inventory control- conduct regular stock takes, verify batch codes, and update inventory logs to ensure accurate tracking of all materials
- Safety and incident response- follow established emergency protocols and use provided safety equipment to manage any leaks or spills, ensuring environmental and site protection
As a Counterbalance FLT Operator you will require:
- FLT licence- valid Counterbalance FLT certificate accredited by an approved body (e.g- RTITB or ITSSAR)
- Workplace safety awareness- knowledge of health and safety guidelines, including COSHH, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and hazard symbols
- Warehouse experience- proven experience in picking, packing, and inventory management within an industrial warehouse environment

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Night Team Leader to join our large food production facility in ST5.
This is a key operational role, responsible for supporting the smooth running of production during the night shift. You will lead by example on the factory floor, supporting the team, ensuring machinery is running efficiently, troubleshooting issues as they arise, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and health & safety.
The successful candidate will be practical, proactive, and comfortable stepping in wherever needed to keep production running smoothly and achieve daily targets.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and support a team of production operatives.
- Conduct shift briefings and communicate production priorities.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and training to team members.
- Promote a positive working culture focused on safety, quality, and productivity.
- Support the Production Team Leader with the day-to-day management of the shift.
Production & Operations
- Ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
- Monitor production performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Respond quickly to operational issues to minimise downtime.
- Complete production records and support KPI reporting.
- Assist with continuous improvement and waste reduction initiatives.
Machinery Setup & Troubleshooting
- Mount and dismount production equipment safely and efficiently.
- Set up machinery in line with production requirements.
- Carry out pre-start operational and safety checks.
- Monitor machinery performance throughout the shift.
- Diagnose and resolve minor equipment issues where possible.
- Work closely with the Engineering team to address more complex faults.
- Support changeovers and ensure equipment is production-ready at all times.
Food Safety, Quality & Health & Safety
- Ensure all food safety, hygiene, and quality standards are maintained.
- Monitor production processes to ensure products meet specification.
- Promote and enforce Health & Safety procedures at all times.
- Ensure PPE and safe working practices are followed.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the production area.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing or food production environment.
- Previous experience in a leadership, supervisory, or team leader role.
- Experience operating, setting up, and troubleshooting production machinery.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements within a manufacturing environment.
- Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage competing priorities.

The role involves a combination of warehouse duties and forklift truck operation, so previous warehouse experience and FLT certificate are essential.
Key Responsibilities
