What You’ll Do as a Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant

As a Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with experienced teachers to support the academic and personal development of students. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support in subjects such as History, Geography, and Politics.
  • Assisting with lesson preparation and in-class activities.
  • Helping students develop critical thinking, essay writing, and exam preparation skills.
  • Supporting teachers with the delivery of engaging and inclusive Humanities lessons.
  • Contributing to a positive, curious, and achievement-focused classroom environment.

Who We’re Looking For

To be successful in this Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant role, you should have:

  • A 2:1 or higher degree in a Humanities-related subject (e.g., History, Philosophy, Geography, Politics) from a top university.
  • A passion for the Humanities and a desire to share that enthusiasm with young people.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A proactive, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting student progress.
  • Previous experience working with young people (e.g., mentoring, tutoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.
