The Opportunity
Are you a Psychology graduate seeking practical experience supporting young people’s learning and wellbeing? We are working with a welcoming primary school in Leamington Spa, who is looking for a Graduate Psychology Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025.
This is a full-time, term-time only Graduate Psychology Teaching Assistant role, perfect for aspiring Educational Psychologists, SEN specialists, mental health professionals, or those considering teacher training. You’ll work closely with children across a range of ages (primarily KS2 to KS4), supporting learning, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing in a nurturing school environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Graduate Psychology Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including autism, ADHD, and social-emotional needs
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to help pupils access learning
- Assist in implementing behaviour support strategies and interventions
- Help foster emotional resilience and positive mental health in young learners
- Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
- Contribute to creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
- Support learning activities in core subjects, especially for pupils who require additional guidance
Who We’re Looking For
For the Graduate Psychology Teaching Assistant role, we are looking for empathetic, dedicated graduates who meet the following criteria:
- Minimum 2:1 degree in Psychology (or related subject)
- Passion for supporting the learning and mental wellbeing of young people
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach
- Some experience working with children or young people with SEN, mental health challenges, or additional needs (e.g., mentoring, youth work, care settings, tutoring) – desirable
- A genuine interest in careers such as teaching, educational psychology, clinical psychology, counselling, or youth work
