The Opportunity
Are you a recent graduate looking to start your career in education? We are working in partnership with a supportive secondary school in Bournemouth, seeking an enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025.
This full-time, term-time only role is perfect for an aspiring teacher who wants to gain classroom experience before undertaking teacher training in 2026 or beyond. You will work closely with experienced teachers to support pupils across KS3 and KS4 in subjects such as Maths, Science, English, Humanities, or Modern Foreign Languages (MFL), helping them build confidence and develop key skills.
Key Responsibilities
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support teachers in delivering engaging and interactive lessons
- Provide one-to-one and small group academic support to pupils of varying ability levels
- Assist with the preparation of learning resources and activities
- Support behaviour management and pupil engagement
- Help pupils build confidence and improve their understanding of key concepts
- Get involved with extracurricular clubs and enrichment activities
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for motivated graduates who meet the following criteria:
- Minimum 2:1 degree in a relevant subject, with Maths, Science, English, Humanities or MFL desirable
- Passion for education and a desire to inspire young learners
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive, patient, and supportive approach to learning
- A clear ambition to pursue a teaching career in the future
- Previous experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, coaching, mentoring) is desirable but not essential
