The Opportunity

Are you a recent graduate looking to gain valuable classroom experience before starting a career in teaching? We are working in partnership with an outstanding secondary school in Shoreham-by-Sea, seeking a motivated Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025.

This is a full-time, term-time only role, perfect for aspiring teachers aiming to begin teacher training in September 2026. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you’ll support pupils across KS3 and KS4 in various subjects, gaining hands-on experience while working alongside talented and supportive teaching staff.

Key Responsibilities

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support teachers in delivering engaging lessons across subjects such as Maths, Science, English, Humanities, or Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)
• Provide one-to-one and small group academic support to help pupils progress in their learning
• Assist in preparing learning materials and classroom resources
• Help manage classroom behaviour and organisation
• Encourage pupil engagement and enthusiasm for learning
• Take part in extracurricular activities and school events

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for enthusiastic graduates who meet the following criteria:

• Minimum 2:1 degree in any relevant subject, with Maths, Science, English, Humanities or MFL desirable
• Passion for education and a desire to inspire young learners
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A proactive and positive approach to supporting education
• Genuine interest in pursuing a career in teaching
• Previous experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, coaching) is desirable but not essential
