Health and Safety Manager 

Whitchurch based with visits to UK sites

£60,000 per annum + Car Allowance + Benefits 

Monday – Friday

We have the privilege of recruiting for our Whitchurch based client who are dedicated to delivering goods and services to businesses through their international facility network. Using local market knowledge with a focus on customer care and sustainability, this company is a leading partner in their field. 

We are looking for an experienced, driven and confident Health and Safety Manager to work across several sites,  predominantly based at their Shropshire HQ. You will liaise across all departments and with front line managers to ensure the highest of Health and Saftey standards for all employees and visitors, you will have a clear understanding of implementing policies and procedures in order to improve and encourage a happier and healthier work environment, whilst promoting company values. 

Based in at their head office in Whitchurch you will be leading the Health & Safety Management across all site operations.

You will be able to;

  • Demonstrate functional management and technical skills to eliminate risks associated with the environment, health and safety performance and legislative compliance
  • You will determine the priorities on H&S actions/initiatives and successfully transfer these to operational plans with assigned owners and time-frames relevant to the level of risk.
  • Ensure suitable and sufficient systems (policies, management systems, internal controls, equipment, etc..) are competently applied across all departments .
  • Provide qualitative and quantitative information on H&S (e.g., performance statistics, performance reviews, business risks, professional opinions)
  • Lead the completion of H&S incident investigations and Learning Reviews for incidents that have High Potential
  • Ensure Capital Application Requests (CAR’s) are reviewed to ensure H&S requirements are met.
  • Pro-actively approving H&S related changes in design, and operation of facilities (i.e. at milestones for new projects)
  • Drive the development of on-site H&S competencies and understanding of H&S through developing and presenting inspiring Management / Supervisor training

Skills and Experience need to be considered for this role; 

  • Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health and or Environmental
  • Associate level certification to IEMA and or General Certification in NBOSH
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in EHS/Safety Management
  • Proven understanding and experience of legal systems, regulatory enforcement processes and relevant legislation.
  • Experience in dealing with regulatory agencies (i.e. HSE, Environment Agency, city / district / regional councils)
  • Understanding and experience of Safety / Environmental Management Systems OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001, ISO14001 / EMAS
  • Knowledge of Safety II / Safety differently principles, HOP (Human Organisational Performance) is preferable
