Are you a recent graduate in Spanish or Modern Foreign Languages?

Do you love helping others discover the beauty of language and culture?
Can you explain verb conjugations and regional dialects with ease?

If Spanish is your passion, we have the perfect teacher training opportunity for you.

The opportunity

Do you see teaching as more than just a job? At our Carlisle secondary school, we're looking for enthusiastic Spanish (or MFL) graduates – or those with strong A-levels in the subject – who want to turn their love of language into a meaningful career.

We’re seeking future teachers who can bring energy and clarity to Spanish lessons – from grammar and conversation to literature and cultural insights.

Why choose us?

  • £26,716 starting salary during your training year
  • PGCE + QTS qualification – gain both in just 12 months
  • £300–£500 relocation support available for eligible applicants
  • Ofsted 'Outstanding' Teacher Training with a 95% success rate
  • Practical training model – focus on real classroom skills, not just academic theory
  • Modern MFL facilities including language labs and digital resources
  • Structured support from experienced language mentors

The school

Our Carlisle-based secondary school is a well-regarded hub for language education. With consistently strong results in Spanish at GCSE and A-Level, we offer:

  • Exchange programmes and immersion trips
  • Dedicated MFL teaching spaces
  • Strong departmental teamwork
  • Extracurricular language clubs and competitions

Training structure

4+1 Model: Train four days a week in school, with one day (Wednesdays) reserved for online PGCE and professional development.

  • Sept–Dec: Observe lessons, team-teach with your mentor, build confidence
  • Jan–Mar: Lead planning and delivery of Spanish lessons, develop assessment strategies
  • Apr–Jul: Teach independently, refine your classroom management, complete your PGCE + QTS

What you'll need

  • A degree in Spanish, Modern Foreign Languages, or a related field (2:1 or higher preferred)
  • OR strong A-levels in Spanish
  • Passion for Spanish language and education
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • Commitment to learning and growing as a teacher
