A leading contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to take responsibility for programme management on a major £60m project at a nationally significant submarine manufacturing facility in Barrow-in-Furness. This technically complex project offers the chance to lead planning strategy on a high-profile scheme with significant long-term potential.
There is a strong pipeline of follow-on projects, offering excellent long-term career progression. For candidates based further afield, weekly travel and accommodation is provided (Monday–Friday on site/office, returning home at weekends).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, maintenance, and reporting of project programmes.
- Integrate design, procurement, and construction activities into a coherent programme.
- Produce detailed progress reports, forecasts, and critical path analyses for senior management and the client.
- Identify and manage programme risks and opportunities, recommending mitigation strategies.
- Provide NEC change management support, including programme impact assessments.
- Represent the contractor in programme-related discussions with client, consultants, and supply chain.
Experience & Skills Required
- Proven Senior Planner experience with a main contractor on high-value projects (£20m+; ideally £50m+).
- Strong NEC contract knowledge and programme management expertise.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 or equivalent planning software.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with large construction or building envelope projects advantageous.
