Are you a recent Biology, Chemistry, or Physics graduate, or someone with strong A-levels in these subjects, who enjoys conducting experiments, exploring how the world works, and inspiring curiosity in young people? If Science is your passion, we have the perfect teacher training opportunity for you across our schools in Burnley, Accrington, and Blackburn.
The opportunity
Do you see teaching as more than just a job? Across our East Lancashire secondary schools, we're looking for enthusiastic Science graduates, or aspiring teachers with strong A-level Sciences, who want to turn their love of the subject into a meaningful career. We're seeking future teachers who can bring clarity, enthusiasm, and scientific thinking to lessons, from chemical reactions and cell biology to forces, energy, waves, and the real-world applications of science that shape the world around us.
Why choose us?
We offer a £26,761 starting salary during your training year, so you earn while you learn from day one. In just 12 months you'll gain both a PGCE and QTS, nationally recognised qualifications that open doors across England. Our programme holds an Ofsted 'Outstanding' rating with a 95% trainee success rate, and is built around a practical training model that focuses on real classroom skills rather than academic theory alone. You'll work in modern, well-equipped Science laboratories, supported throughout by structured mentorship from experienced Science teachers.
The schools
Our secondary schools in Burnley, Accrington, and Blackburn are well-regarded centres for Science education in the heart of East Lancashire, with consistently strong results in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at GCSE and A-Level. Beyond that, we're looking for a genuine passion for Science and education, excellent communication and organisational skills, and a commitment to growing as a teacher. A driving licence is recommended as our schools are spread across Burnley, Accrington, and Blackburn, and having your own transport makes moving between sites more straightforward, though all three towns are well connected by road and rail.
