Interview Hints and Tips
Preparing for your interview is key to making a strong and lasting impression. The following hints and tips will help you feel confident and ready to present yourself in the best possible way.
- Research the company: Understand its values, mission, products/services, and recent news. Visit the company website and LinkedIn page
- Know the role: Review the job description carefully and be ready to discuss how your skills and experience match the requirements
- Understand your CV: Be prepared to talk about your career history, achievements, and reasons for career moves
- Check the interview time, location, and interviewer’s name in advance
- Allow extra time for travel or potential delays—aim to arrive 10–15 minutes early
- For online interviews, test your technology (camera, microphone, internet connection) beforehand
- Choose smart, professional attire suitable for the company’s culture
- Keep it simple, clean, and comfortable. First impressions count
- Be polite and positive: Smile, make eye contact and offer a confident handshake (for in-person interviews)
- Listen carefully: Make sure you understand the question before answering. It’s ok to pause and think
- Be specific: Use examples to demonstrate your achievements and skills—use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result)
- Show enthusiasm: Demonstrate your interest in the role and the company
- Ask questions: Prepare a few thoughtful questions about the role, team, or company to show engagement

- “What are your strengths and weaknesses?”
- “Describe a challenge you’ve faced and how you handled it.”
