1. Preperation is Everything
  • Research the company: Understand its values, mission, products/services, and recent news. Visit the company website and LinkedIn page
  • Know the role: Review the job description carefully and be ready to discuss how your skills and experience match the requirements
  • Understand your CV: Be prepared to talk about your career history, achievements, and reasons for career moves
2. Plan Your Journey
  • Check the interview time, location, and interviewer’s name in advance
  • Allow extra time for travel or potential delays—aim to arrive 10–15 minutes early
  • For online interviews, test your technology (camera, microphone, internet connection) beforehand
3. Dress for Success
  • Choose smart, professional attire suitable for the company’s culture
  • Keep it simple, clean, and comfortable. First impressions count
4. During the Interview
  • Be polite and positive: Smile, make eye contact and offer a confident handshake (for in-person interviews)
  • Listen carefully: Make sure you understand the question before answering. It’s ok to pause and think
  • Be specific: Use examples to demonstrate your achievements and skills—use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result)
  • Show enthusiasm: Demonstrate your interest in the role and the company
  • Ask questions: Prepare a few thoughtful questions about the role, team, or company to show engagement
5. Common Interview Questions

Be prepared to answer:

  • “Tell me about yourself.”
  • “Why do you want to work here?”
  • “What are your strengths and weaknesses?”
  • “Describe a challenge you’ve faced and how you handled it.”
  • “Where do you see yourself in five years?”
6. Closing the Interview
  • Thank the interviewer for their time
  • Reiterate your interest in the role and why you’re a strong fit
  • Ask about next steps or timelines for feedback
7. After the Interview
  • Reflect on your performance and note what went well
  • Contact your recruiter via phone or email and advise of your interview feedback
8. Final Reminders
  • Bring any requested documents or identification
  • Stay calm, confident and be yourself — interviews are as much about personality fit as they are about skills
