What's happening in the Cheshire legal recruitment market?
A quick snapshot from the last few months...
The market is definitely more active than it was at the end of last year, but firms are still hiring selectively rather than growing teams for the sake of it.
The busiest areas continue to be:
✅ Private Client
✅ Commercial Property
✅ Employment
✅ Family (private and public!)
✅ Residential Conveyancing (steadying nicely)
What I'm seeing is that firms are prioritising experienced lawyers who can hit the ground running, manage their own caseloads and, ideally, bring strong commercial awareness or existing relationships.
The biggest challenge? Good candidates are still in demand, and lengthy recruitment processes can absolutely cost some firms the people they really want.
Overall, I'd say the Cheshire market sits around a 7/10 (ish) positive, measured and focused on quality over quantity.
If you're hiring or considering a move in the North West, it feels like a good time to have a conversation.
