The Role – 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Full-time, long-term position starting immediately
  • Provide 1:1 support for a student with complex needs (e.g., autism, SEMH, ADHD)
  • Assist with academic learning and social interaction to help the student engage fully in class activities
  • Support the student with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and personal care where necessary
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individualised learning plans (ILPs) tailored to the student’s unique needs
  • Monitor and track progress, offering constructive feedback and updates to staff and parents
  • Help create a positive, structured learning environment where the student feels supported and empowered to succeed

Person Specification

  • A degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field (desirable but not essential)
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN (especially autism, SEMH, or ADHD) is preferred
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting children with complex needs
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A genuine desire to help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their personal best
