An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Manager to join a well-established FMCG food manufacturing business, part of a global food manufacturing group operating across 40 countries.
Reporting directly to the Factory General Manager, you will take full responsibility for the site's engineering and maintenance function, leading both internal and external engineering resources while driving safety, performance, and continuous improvement across the factory.
The Role
As Engineering Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of the engineering and maintenance function, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of plant, equipment, and facilities. You will also lead engineering and improvement projects, delivering technically and commercially sound solutions that support long-term business performance.
Safety, environmental compliance, and quality will be at the core of this role.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage site engineering and maintenance activities

Effectively manage internal teams and external contractors

Deliver engineering and CAPEX projects with strong technical and commercial evaluation

Ensure plant and facilities operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance

Drive continuous improvement in engineering systems and processes

Ensure adherence to all relevant H&S, environmental, and quality standards
About You
You'll be an experienced Engineering Manager from a manufacturing environment, ideally FMCG or food manufacturing (bakery experience advantageous), with strong leadership capability and technical expertise.
Key requirements include:

Apprenticeship or degree-level qualification in Engineering

Health & Safety qualification (NEBOSH or IOSH preferred)

Experience managing H&S and environmental activities

Strong understanding of process and engineering techniques

Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop engineering teams

Excellent communication skills at all organisational levels

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

Ability to develop, implement, and improve systems and procedures

Results-focused mindset with a strong understanding of business and departmental targets

Values-led approach with a focus on teamwork, respect, and continuous improvement

Salary: c. £65 to 70k
