North Lancashire | £60,000 - £70,000 DOE | Bonus | Excellent Benefits | Monday - Friday
A well-established manufacturing business is looking to appoint an experienced Engineering Manager to take ownership of its on-site engineering and maintenance function.
This is a key leadership role with a strong focus on maintenance, reliability, plant performance and continuous improvement, alongside developing the engineering team and supporting the wider operational strategy.
You'll be joining a stable, forward-thinking organisation where you'll have the autonomy to make an impact, improve maintenance performance and help shape the long-term engineering strategy of the site.
The Role
As Engineering Manager, you'll take full ownership of the engineering department, with a major focus on delivering a strong and proactive maintenance strategy across the site.
You'll be responsible for ensuring plant and equipment are maintained to a high standard, reducing breakdowns and unplanned downtime while driving a more preventative and reliability-focused approach.
Key responsibilities will include:

Leading planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across the site

Driving improvements in machine uptime, reliability and overall plant performance

Managing maintenance schedules and activity through CMMS systems such as SIRE
-
Reducing breakdowns through root cause analysis and continuous improvement

Leading health, safety and environmental standards across engineering
-
Implementing LEAN and continuous improvement initiatives

Leading CAPEX projects with a budget of circa £1.5m
-
Managing contractors, suppliers and engineering spend

Developing and supporting the engineering team

Working closely with the wider site leadership team to deliver operational objectives
The Candidate
We're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager who combines strong technical knowledge with a hands-on, people-focused leadership style.
Ideally, you will have:

Previous Engineering Management experience within manufacturing or an industrial environment

Strong experience managing maintenance functions across planned and reactive maintenance
-
A proven track record of improving PPM performance, reliability and reducing downtime
-
Experience within a process-led manufacturing environment
-
Strong knowledge of LEAN manufacturing and/or Six Sigma
-
Experience using CMMS systems
-
Strong knowledge of health & safety, compliance and engineering standards

Experience managing budgets and CAPEX projects

An engineering qualification, ideally HND level or above
-
An electrical bias would be advantageous

IOSH qualification
You'll be a hands-on leader who leads with honesty, builds strong relationships and works collaboratively across the business to deliver results.
