Duties:

Position: Teacher of English        

Location: Farnborough  

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £32-£38k DOE   

Start Date: September, an earlier start date can be discussed if necessary  

My client is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated English Teacher with a love of education to join their committed team. This is a well resourced department based within the heart of the school, with a dedicated literacy and oracy team who work across the school.  

The successful candidate will;

 

  • Engage, enthuse, motivate and challenge students in order for them to excel academically
  • Have relentlessly high expectations of themselves and students
  • Have excellent subject knowledge
  • Enhance the quality of teaching and learning in the Department and wider school through sharing resources
  • and good practice, lesson observation, collaborative teaching, mentoring and active participation in
  • continuing professional studies programme
  • Teach a standard timetable allocation
  • Make a positive contribution to the efficient running of the Department, including, setting and marking
  • examinations, attending departmental meetings and undertaking administrative and other tasks as delegated
  • by the Head of Department
  • Support the schools’ aims and objectives for teaching and learning
  • Adhere to and promote all school policies and procedures

Person Specification

 

  • Good degree in a directly related subject (desirable)
  • Recognised teaching qualification, such as a PGCE, or equivalent experience
  • Awareness of Safeguarding requirements and good practice
  • Good level of IT literacy
  • Be capable of delivering inspirational and informative lessons to the full age and ability range of pupils 
  • Be able to demonstrate a positive and authoritative rapport with students
  • Excellent and effective classroom management skills
  • Have excellent communication skills to enable effective dialogue with pupils, parents, staff and visitors
  • Be organised and self-motivated, with a proven record for meeting targets and deadlines
  • A good sense of humour
