About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our growing team specialising in industrial composts, polymers, and associated manufacturing solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for a degree-educated individual looking to develop a career in estimating, technical sales support, and project costing within a specialist industrial sector.
Working closely with the commercial, engineering, and production teams, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, reviewing technical drawings and specifications, and supporting the quotation process for customers across a range of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotations for customer enquiries and projects.
- Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Calculate material, labour, manufacturing, and subcontractor costs.
- Liaise with engineering, production, procurement, and sales teams to gather project information.
- Assist in the preparation of tender submissions and commercial proposals.
- Maintain and update costing databases, pricing schedules, and estimation records.
- Support the evaluation of project feasibility and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Communicate with suppliers to obtain pricing and lead-time information.
- Ensure quotations are prepared accurately and submitted within required timescales.
- Assist with continuous improvement of estimating processes and reporting systems.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Degree educated in Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials Science, Chemistry, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Previous experience in estimating, manufacturing, engineering, polymers, composites, materials processing, or a related industrial environment.
- Knowledge of industrial composting, polymer manufacturing, recycling, or sustainable materials.
- Familiarity with ERP, MRP, or estimating software.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and cost structures.
