Duties:

KPI Recruiting are on the look out for a Forklift/ Baler Operative for our client based in Winsford.

The days and hours as a Forklift/ Bailer Operative are:

  • Monday- Friday
  • 08:00- 17:00

The rate of pay as a Forklift/ Bailer Operative is:

  • £13.50 - £14.00 p/h (depending on experience)

The duties and responsibilities as a Forklift/ Bailer Operative are:

  • Feed and sort materials: Manually or mechanically load cardboard, plastic, paper, or metal scrap into the baler hopper. Remove non-recyclable or hazardous items before processing to prevent contamination
  • Machine execution: Safely operate horizontal or vertical baling machines to compress materials into tight, uniform cubes
  • Bale tying and securing: Thread, tie off, and lock industrial bale wires around completed bundles to secure them
  • ·       Data tracking: Weigh finished bales, record metrics on summary sheets, and tag materials for inventory accuracy
  • Pre-start inspections: Conduct daily checklist inspections on both the forklift and baler machinery, checking hydraulics, belts, and safety guards before starting work
  • Report defects: Immediately report any machinery malfunctions, hydraulic leaks, or structural wear to supervisors
  • Area maintenance: Maintain strict housekeeping standards in the baler room and loading docks, ensuring areas remain free of tripping and fire hazards
  • Material handling: Operate industrial forklifts (counterbalance or clamp trucks) to move pallets, waste carts, and finished bales
  • Loading & unloading: Safely load completed bales onto shipping trailers and unload inbound materials from distribution trucks
  • Staging & storage: Organise and tier-stack compressed bales in the warehouse yard or storage bay to maximise space safely

The ideal candidate for a Forklift/ Bailer Operative would need:

  • Previous experience as a Bailer Operative and Forklift Operative
  • Counterbalance Forklift License (essential)
  • Ability to work well individually or in a team environment
  • Good time keeping skills
  • Good attention to detail
