Location: WF1
Salary: £24,000 – £28,000 per annum, dependent on experience
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Start Date: Immediate – September 2026
We are currently recruiting for a Geography Graduate to join a college setting in the WF1 area, supporting the delivery of A Level Geography across Year 1 and Year 2.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Geography graduate looking to build a career within Further Education, gaining valuable hands-on experience alongside experienced teaching professionals.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Geography teaching team, supporting the delivery of the A Level programme while developing the knowledge, skills and confidence required to progress towards greater teaching responsibility in the future.
The Role
As a Geography Graduate, you will provide academic, classroom and programme support to A Level Geography students while working under the guidance of experienced lecturers.
You will have the opportunity to develop your understanding of effective teaching and learning, curriculum planning, assessment, student progress and the wider responsibilities involved in delivering an A Level programme.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the delivery of Year 1 and Year 2 A Level Geography
- Assisting experienced lecturers during classroom-based learning
- Providing additional academic support to students, including one-to-one and small-group support
- Supporting students with coursework, revision and examination preparation
- Helping students develop their understanding and application of geographical concepts
- Assisting with the preparation and development of high-quality learning resources
- Supporting lesson planning and programme preparation
- Helping to monitor student progress, engagement and attendance
- Providing feedback to teaching staff regarding student progress and areas requiring additional support
- Supporting the implementation of appropriate interventions for students
Development & Progression
This role is designed to provide a strong foundation for a future career in teaching or lecturing.
Working alongside experienced Geography lecturers, you will gain practical experience across the key areas of A Level delivery, including:
- Teaching and learning
- Curriculum planning
- Lesson preparation
- Student assessment and feedback
- Progress tracking
- Examination preparation
- Behaviour and classroom management
- Student engagement and support
- Academic and pastoral guidance
- Quality improvement
- Working within a Further Education environment
The long-term aim is to support the successful candidate in developing the confidence and professional skills required to take on increasing levels of responsibility within the Geography department.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- A degree in Geography or a closely related subject – essential
- Strong subject knowledge and an interest in A Level Geography
- A genuine interest in pursuing a career within education
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to build positive relationships with young people
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- A proactive, enthusiastic and adaptable approach
Previous teaching or college experience is not essential. This opportunity is particularly suited to a Geography graduate who may have limited formal teaching experience but is passionate about the subject and interested in developing a career within education.
Any experience working with young people, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, volunteering or supporting students would be advantageous.
