Are you a graduate with a 2:1 or above in a relevant degree looking to gain your first hands-on experience working in a primary school?
We are recruiting a Graduate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in the L37 area, working closely with one pupil throughout the school day. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate looking to develop practical experience in education while making a direct difference to a child's learning and development.
The Role
Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team, you will provide consistent 1:1 support to a pupil, helping them access learning and get the most from their time in school.
You will:
-
Provide dedicated 1:1 support during lessons and classroom activities.
-
Help the pupil understand and complete learning tasks.
-
Encourage confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours.
-
Adapt your approach to suit the pupil's individual needs.
-
Support the pupil to engage with the wider classroom environment.
-
Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil while maintaining professional boundaries.
-
Work closely with the class teacher to provide consistent support.
-
Share relevant observations about the pupil's engagement and progress with teaching staff.
What We're Looking For
-
2:1 degree or above in a relevant subject, such as Psychology, Education, English, Mathematics, Science or a related discipline.
-
A genuine interest in working with children and pursuing a career in education.
-
Patient, approachable and encouraging.
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-
Reliable and consistent, with the ability to build a positive relationship with a child.
-
Willing to learn and take guidance from experienced teaching staff.
No previous TA or school experience is required. This is a graduate-entry opportunity where you will gain your classroom experience through the role itself.
Why Apply?
This is more than general classroom support. You'll have the opportunity to work closely with one pupil every day, gaining valuable insight into how children learn and how individual support can make a difference.
You'll develop practical experience in 1:1 support, classroom practice, communication and pupil development, providing an excellent foundation for a future career in teaching, education, SEN or child-focused roles.
