Graduate Academic Mentor: Person Specification
- Graduate Academic Mentor – Recent or soon-to-be graduate from a top-tier university with at least a 2:1 in any subject area
- A genuine commitment to helping young people achieve academically and emotionally
- Resilient, patient, empathetic, with strong communication skills and adaptability
- Prior experience with young people (tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is desirable
- Keen to collaborate with staff across educational and psychological disciplines
- Ideal for those aiming for teacher training, a future role in educational psychology or pastoral school support
Graduate Academic Mentor: Role Specification
Work within a high-performing Sixth Form environment that:
- Achieves A‑level value-added scores in the top 8% of schools nationwide
- Operates with a “Good” Ofsted rating across education, behaviour, and leadership
- Emphasises a supportive, caring atmosphere, with small tutor groups and personalised guidance
As a Graduate Academic Mentor, you will:
- Supervise and sustain a productive Sixth Form study zone
- Deliver 1:1 and small-group academic coaching and mentoring
- Monitor attendance, engagement, and progress, liaising with pastoral staff
- Help host and run workshops, UCAS support sessions, and career-focused events
- Collaborate with an on‑site Educational Psychologist to support students’ learning and wellbeing
- Build relationships with students, parents, teachers, and external mentors
- Gain access to teaching-focused experiences – ideally positioning you for teacher training
This full-time role runs Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm during term time.
