Graduate Academic Mentor

Looking for a role where your degree makes a real impact — every single day?

A high-performing secondary school in the heart of Westminster is recruiting a motivated and passionate Graduate Academic Mentor to join them for the 2025–26 academic year.

This is a unique opportunity for a graduate with a strong academic background in English, Maths, or Science who wants to gain in-school experience before moving on to teacher training, educational psychology, or a career in the wider education sector.

About the School

Located just a short walk from Pimlico and Victoria stations, this is a thriving, Ofsted-rated Outstanding (2022) secondary school known for academic excellence, inclusivity, and ambition. The school has:

  • GCSE results consistently above national average across all core subjects
  • A dedicated Academic Mentoring Programme that drives student progress
  • Strong pastoral support systems and in-house CPD for graduates
  • A collaborative team ethos and a culture that values new ideas and fresh energy

About the Role:

As a Graduate Academic Mentor, you’ll provide tailored academic support to students who need a bit of extra guidance — whether they’re catching up, building confidence, or aiming for top grades.

Your role will include:

  • Leading 1:1 and small-group academic support sessions in your subject area (English, Maths, or Science)
  • Supporting students preparing for GCSE and end-of-year exams
  • Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and personalised learning strategies
  • Helping identify learning gaps and working closely with SEN and pastoral teams
  • Acting as a positive role model and motivator, encouraging students to aim higher

This is a full-school immersion role — the kind that builds your classroom toolkit quickly and meaningfully.

Who You Are:

We’re looking for a graduate who is:

  • Degree-qualified in English, Maths, Science or a related subject (2:1 or above preferred)
  • Passionate about education and helping young people succeed
  • Clear, confident, and calm when communicating
  • Reflective and reliable, with a desire to learn and grow professionally
  • Previous experience mentoring or tutoring is useful — but not essential

What’s in It for You:

  • £25,000 – £30,000 per annum, depending on experience
  • Full-time, Monday to Friday, term-time only
  • Fixed-term contract from September 2025 – July 2026, via KPI Education
  • Weekly pay and support with next steps, including teacher training pathways and PGCE guidance

If you're ready to turn your subject knowledge into student success – and see your work matter every day – this could be the opportunity that starts your career in education.
