A high-achieving and inclusive secondary school in Richmond is seeking enthusiastic and motivated Graduate Academic Mentors to join their team from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates who are considering a career in education and wish to gain valuable, hands-on experience supporting students academically within a supportive and well-structured school environment.
The school is particularly interested in graduates with strong academic backgrounds in English, Mathematics, and Science who are passionate about raising attainment and supporting young people to reach their full potential.
Role Overview
As a Graduate Academic Mentor, you will work closely with teaching staff to provide targeted academic support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will play a key role in helping to improve student progress, deliver intervention sessions, and support learning both in and outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver targeted one-to-one and small group academic interventions in core subjects (English, Maths, and Science) or a sports background.
- Support the delivery of lessons alongside class teachers.
- Assist in planning and preparing learning materials and resources.
- Monitor, track, and report on student progress and attainment.
- Encourage positive learning behaviours, engagement, and academic confidence.
- Support behaviour management in line with school policies.
- Work with students of varying abilities, including those requiring additional academic support.
Candidate Requirements
- A degree in a relevant subject or strong academic background.
- A genuine interest in education and supporting young people.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- A proactive, patient, and adaptable approach.
- Experience in tutoring, mentoring, youth work, or education is desirable but not essential.
