Graduate Academic Mentor – Liverpool

£530–£560 per week | Full-Time | November 2026 Start

Are you a high-achieving graduate looking to turn your academic background into valuable experience within education?

Do you have the knowledge, confidence and personality to motivate secondary-aged students to achieve more than they thought possible?

Would you like to spend a full academic year gaining hands-on school experience before progressing into teacher training, Educational Psychology or another education-based career?

KPI Education is seeking an ambitious Graduate Academic Mentor to join a thriving secondary school and sixth form in Liverpool.

This is far more than a traditional Teaching Assistant role.

The school is looking for a bright, driven graduate who can become a trusted mentor, positive role model and academic champion for its pupils, while building the practical experience needed for their own future career.

Graduate Academic Mentor – The Role

  • £530–£560 per week
  • Full-time position for the 2026/27 academic year
  • November 2026 start
  • Work with students across KS3, GCSE and potentially A-Level
  • Deliver focused 1:1 and small-group interventions
  • Use your own degree subject to provide specialist academic support where appropriate
  • Help students working towards the very highest GCSE grades
  • Encourage and guide pupils aspiring to Russell Group and other competitive universities
  • Develop students’ revision techniques, exam preparation and independent learning habits
  • Work alongside experienced teachers and members of the senior leadership team
  • Build an understanding of lesson planning, assessment and curriculum delivery
  • Develop highly transferable skills ahead of teacher training or further education-based study

Join a School That Believes in Raising Aspirations

Based in Liverpool, this inclusive and ambitious secondary school is committed to achieving strong academic outcomes while ensuring every student has access to meaningful opportunities.

The school aims to broaden pupils’ horizons and encourage them to think beyond their immediate circumstances — whether that means university, professional careers or pathways they may never previously have considered.

As a Graduate Academic Mentor, you'll be an important part of that mission.

Rather than simply observing lessons or spending your days supporting general classroom activities, you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine academic and personal impact.

You might begin the day working with Year 11 students as they prepare for their GCSE examinations, before supporting a high-performing sixth-form student with their university ambitions. Later, you could deliver a small-group intervention for pupils who have the potential to excel but need additional encouragement, structure and academic direction.

Every day will offer the chance to develop your own skills while helping young people make progress.

What Kind of Graduate Are We Looking For?

Applications are particularly encouraged from graduates with degrees in:

English | Mathematics | Science | History | Geography | Languages | Psychology | Humanities | STEM

A 2:1 or First-Class degree is highly desirable.

You don't necessarily need previous experience working in a school. We're more interested in finding graduates who are academically capable, confident communicators, ambitious and passionate about helping young people succeed.

If you can explain complex ideas clearly, build rapport with students and bring energy and enthusiasm into your work, this could be an excellent opportunity for you.

Could This Be Your First Step Towards a Career in Education?

If you're considering a future as a teacher, Educational Psychologist, SEN professional or education leader, spending a full academic year working within a successful secondary school could give you the insight, experience and confidence to take your next step.

You'll gain a genuine understanding of school life, work alongside experienced professionals and develop a much clearer picture of the career path you want to pursue.

Ready to take the next step?

Send your CV to Tom at KPI Education today.

Interviews are taking place now, with a November 2026 start. Early applications are strongly encouraged.
