Graduate Academic Mentor – Liverpool

Are you a successful university graduate keen to put your subject knowledge to good use while gaining valuable experience in a secondary school?
Do you have the academic ability, enthusiasm and communication skills to inspire young people and help them reach their full potential?
Are you hoping to build a strong foundation for a future in teaching, Educational Psychology or another professional career within education?
KPI Education is working with an ambitious secondary school and sixth form in Liverpool to recruit a talented Graduate Academic Mentor.
This opportunity offers much more than a conventional classroom support position.
The school wants a capable and enthusiastic graduate who can challenge students academically, encourage them to aim high and become a positive influence throughout their school journey. In return, you'll gain meaningful experience and develop skills that will support your own career ambitions.
Graduate Academic Mentor – The Role
- Earn between £530–£560 per week
- November 2026 start, initially until the end of the academic year
- Support students across KS3, GCSE and potentially A-Level
- Lead targeted 1:1 and small-group academic sessions
- Draw on your university subject knowledge to offer more specialised support
- Help students strengthen their understanding and work towards the highest GCSE grades
- Motivate ambitious pupils considering Russell Group and other competitive universities
- Improve students' revision strategies, examination confidence and independent study skills
- Collaborate with experienced teaching staff and senior leaders
- Gain insight into curriculum planning, assessment methods and effective teaching practice
- Develop valuable experience for teacher training or further study within the education sector
Become Part of a School That Encourages Ambition
Situated in Liverpool, this forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school is passionate about helping its students achieve academically and access opportunities that can shape their futures.
One day, you could be helping Year 11 pupils tackle challenging GCSE topics and prepare for their examinations. You might then work with sixth-form students researching university options and preparing for the next stage of their education. You could also lead a focused intervention with a small group who have the ability to achieve highly but would benefit from extra guidance and motivation.
No two days will be quite the same, giving you the opportunity to grow professionally while helping students realise their academic potential.
What Kind of Graduate Are We Looking For?
We are particularly interested in hearing from graduates with a background in:
English | Mathematics | Science | History | Geography | Languages | Psychology | Humanities | STEM
A 2:1 or First-Class degree would be an advantage.
Previous school-based experience is not essential. More important is your ability to communicate effectively, demonstrate strong academic knowledge and connect with young people. We're looking for graduates who are motivated, articulate, ambitious and genuinely invested in helping others achieve success.
If you enjoy sharing your knowledge, can make challenging subjects easier to understand and have the confidence to encourage students to aim higher, this could be a fantastic opportunity.
Could This Opportunity Help Shape Your Future in Education?
For graduates considering a career as a teacher, Educational Psychologist, SEN specialist or future education leader, this position provides an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand experience within a successful secondary school.
