Candidate specification

  • Graduate Behaviour Management Mentor
  • Must have 2:1 or higher grade in Psychology, Sociology, Education or social science-related degrees
  • Open to other degrees depending on the candidate
  • Confident individual with a genuine desire to help others
  • SEN experience is preferred but not required

  • Help children to achieve their full potential and overcome barriers
  • Focus on ‘learning through play’- lots of messy play, sensory activities and role-play!
  • Work alongside class teachers, SENDCO and other education support staff
  • Support students in developing communication and emotion regulation skills
  • Autism-specialist school in south Sunderland
  • Full-time, long-term role starting from September
  • Earn up to £470 per week

As a Graduate Behaviour Management Mentor in an outstanding autism-specialist school in South Sunderland, you’ll work alongside SEN teachers and other education support staff to promote personalized learning and support for all students. The school offers superb enhanced facilities including spaces dedicated to vestibular development, sensory dens, a role-play village, hydrotherapy pool and large outdoor areas!

The school is located South of Sunderland, a commutable distance from nearby the city, with excellent transport links and main roads directing towards the school. The school welcomes students with acute autism and other complex learning needs; it provides an incredibly rewarding work environment on a newly purpose-built site.

Although applicant SEN experience is preferred, the school offers training to facilitate appropriate support for its students, and is looking for the right individual for the role; someone passionate about getting involved, working with SEN students to make a difference to their lives whilst developing their own skillset.

The school wishes to speak to suitable candidates ASAP. The role will start from September, and the school are keen to book interviews and trial days. Providing all goes well, this will lead to a long-term position throughout the next academic year.
