KPI Education is delighted to be working with a highly respected and inclusive secondary school in Putney to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic Graduate Behaviour Mentor to join their ICAS (Inclusion Centre and Support) department.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a recent graduate who is passionate about pursuing a career in education, psychology, youth work, or pastoral care. The role provides invaluable hands-on experience supporting young people who require additional behavioural and emotional support to successfully re-engage with learning and reintegrate into mainstream education.

About the Role

The ICAS department offers a structured, supportive environment for students who have been temporarily removed from mainstream lessons due to behavioural challenges. The focus is on restoring positive behaviour, rebuilding trust with staff, and ensuring students are equipped to return to mainstream lessons successfully.

As a Graduate Behaviour Mentor, you will play a key role in this process. Working full-time, you will provide consistent daily support to students, helping them regulate behaviour, engage in learning activities, and reflect on their choices in a constructive and supportive way.

You will work closely with pastoral leaders, teachers, and senior staff to ensure students receive a joined-up approach to both academic and behavioural support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide full-time behavioural and emotional support to students within the ICAS provision.
  • Support students in accessing academic work and maintaining progress during their time away from mainstream lessons.
  • Deliver informal mentoring and structured interventions focused on behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation.
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting high expectations, respect, and responsibility at all times.
  • Use effective de-escalation strategies to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner.
  • Support restorative conversations to help students reflect on behaviour and outcomes.
  • Assist in reintegration planning and support students returning to mainstream classrooms.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and senior leaders.
  • Maintain accurate records of student behaviour, engagement, and progress.
  • Help identify and respond to external barriers impacting student learning and wellbeing.

Candidate Requirements

The school is seeking a motivated and resilient graduate who is eager to build a career supporting young people in education.

You will ideally have:

  • A degree in any subject (Psychology, Education, Sociology, Criminology or related fields advantageous but not essential).
  • A genuine interest in working with young people and supporting behaviour development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach to challenging situations.
  • The ability to build positive relationships quickly and maintain professional boundaries.
  • A strong commitment to high expectations and inclusive education.
  • A willingness to learn, develop, and engage in training opportunities.

Previous experience in mentoring, tutoring, coaching, youth work, or similar settings is desirable but not essential.

What the School Offers

  • A welcoming and highly supportive pastoral and inclusion team.
  • Full-time, term-time only position offering excellent work-life balance.
  • Competitive weekly pay of £500 – £600.
  • High-quality training and continuous professional development opportunities.
  • Valuable experience for aspiring teachers, educational psychologists, and youth workers.
  • A clear pathway into long-term careers in education and pastoral support.
  • A school culture built on high expectations, inclusion, and student success.
