KPI Education is working with a supportive Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Crewe to recruit a Graduate Behaviour Mentor for September 2026.

The PRU supports young people with behavioural and educational needs, including students who may have been permanently excluded from mainstream education or require a more structured approach to learning.

This role would suit someone who is calm under pressure, emotionally resilient and confident setting clear boundaries while building positive relationships with young people.

The Role

As a Graduate Behaviour Mentor, you will work alongside teachers, pastoral staff and specialist professionals to help students re-engage with education and develop positive behaviours.

You will provide consistent support, helping pupils manage challenging situations, improve their behaviour and develop confidence, resilience and independence.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

• Build positive and professional relationships with students.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring and pastoral support.
• Support pupils with behaviour management and emotional regulation.
• Reinforce clear expectations, routines and boundaries.
• Help students develop strategies for managing conflict and frustration.
• Encourage positive attitudes towards learning and personal development.
• Support pupils during lessons, transitions and activities.
• Contribute to individual behaviour and support plans.
• Monitor behaviour and communicate concerns to teaching and pastoral staff.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, interventions and progress.
• Support students with reintegration and positive engagement in education.
• Follow safeguarding and behaviour management procedures at all times.

Candidate Requirements

You must be educated to degree level and have the resilience and maturity required to work within a PRU setting.

You should also have:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong resilience and emotional maturity.
• The ability to establish firm but positive boundaries.
• Confidence managing difficult conversations and behaviour.
• A consistent, fair and professional approach.
• The ability to work effectively within a wider team.

Previous experience in a PRU, SEN school or alternative provision setting is desirable but not essential.
