A welcoming and ambitious St Helens primary school is seeking an exceptional Graduate Higher Learning Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join its dedicated team from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring teacher or education professional to gain invaluable classroom experience whilst developing the skills required for a long-term career in schools.

As a Graduate HLTA, you will work closely with teachers and senior leaders to deliver targeted interventions, support pupil progress and provide classroom cover when required. You will play a key role in helping children achieve their full potential across the primary age range. Due to the necessity to provide cover, the school is looking for a graduate with prior teaching assistant experience in an educational setting (preferably a mainstream primary or secondary school).

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds a 2:1 degree or above in a relevant subject (core and education)
  • Strong academic background with excellent literacy and numeracy skills
  • Previous experience working within an educational setting
  • Passionate about education and child development
  • Confident communicating with pupils, staff and parents
  • Ambitious, proactive and eager to develop professionally
