Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant

Are you a recent graduate, or about to graduate, with a passion for History, Geography, Religious Studies, or another Humanities subject and a desire to pursue a career in education?

Have you been considering a career in teaching but would like to gain practical classroom experience before committing to teacher training?

Would you like to support and inspire young people to engage with the world around them through the Humanities?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and enthusiastic humanities graduate to join a thriving secondary school in York as a Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant. This full-time, long-term role is ideal for graduates eager to gain valuable experience in a secondary school setting and explore a future career in education.

Key Details: Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant

  • Full-time position: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm during term time
  • Weekly salary: Up to £560 as a Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant
  • Start date: Immediate or September 2025
  • Support students across Key Stages 3 and 4 in Humanities lessons and intervention groups
  • Collaborate closely with subject teachers and pastoral teams to support student progress and engagement

Candidate Requirements:

  • A 2:1 degree or above in a Humanities-related subject (e.g., History, Geography, Religious Studies, Politics, Sociology)
  • A genuine interest in education and supporting secondary school pupils
  • Experience working with young people is desirable but not essential
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills
