Your first step into education could make a lasting difference.
Are you a graduate looking for a career where your skills, patience and enthusiasm can help young people overcome challenges and realise their potential?
If you're interested in teaching, Special Educational Needs, educational psychology or a wider career in education, this could be an opportunity to gain valuable experience while discovering where your future career could take you.
KPI Education is recruiting a Graduate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join an inclusive secondary school in Coventry.
Working alongside experienced teachers and support professionals, you'll help students navigate their learning, build confidence and develop the independence to take on new challenges.
The opportunity
Every student learns differently. As a Graduate LSA, you'll help ensure that young people who require additional support can access their education and participate meaningfully in school life.
You'll provide individualised assistance across lessons and activities, adapting your approach to help pupils feel supported, encouraged and able to progress.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Delivering 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEN.
-
Helping pupils access lessons, classroom activities and the wider curriculum.
-
Encouraging positive engagement, concentration and motivation.
-
Reinforcing learning and promoting independent working.
-
Supporting the development of social, emotional and communication skills.
-
Assisting teachers with differentiated activities and learning tasks.
-
Establishing positive, trusting relationships with students.
-
Liaising with teachers, the SENCO and wider support staff.
-
Sharing relevant observations regarding student progress and wellbeing.
-
Providing a consistent, calm and encouraging presence throughout the school day.
Students may have a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD and dyslexia.
Who would thrive in this role?
We're looking for graduates who are academically capable, approachable and genuinely motivated to support young people.
You'll ideally demonstrate:
-
A strong academic background, preferably a 2:1 degree or above.
-
A genuine interest in education and working with young people.
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
-
Patience, empathy and resilience.
-
A positive, adaptable and supportive attitude.
-
The ability to develop strong relationships with students.
-
An eagerness to learn and grow professionally.
You don't necessarily need previous school experience.
Experience gained through tutoring, mentoring, volunteering, coaching or similar activities would be advantageous. However, we're particularly interested in your attitude, compassion and willingness to make a positive contribution.
Invest in your future
This role offers more than an introduction to school life. It's an opportunity to develop transferable skills and gain practical insight into supporting young people with additional needs.
You'll have the opportunity to:
-
Gain hands-on experience within a secondary school.
-
Develop confidence supporting students with different learning needs.
-
Strengthen your communication, mentoring and interpersonal skills.
-
Build your understanding of SEN and inclusive education.
-
Learn from experienced education professionals.
-
Access training and professional development opportunities.
-
Establish relevant experience for teacher training and future education careers.
-
Join a collaborative and inclusive school community.
Could this be the start of your education career?
If you're a graduate who wants to turn your interest in education into practical experience, support young people to overcome barriers and develop skills for your own future, we'd love to hear from you.
