Are you a graduate looking for a career that combines personal development with the opportunity to make a genuine difference?
If you're interested in supporting young people, understanding additional learning needs and exploring a future in teaching, SEN, educational psychology or education, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.
KPI Education is recruiting a Graduate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Wolverhampton.
You'll gain valuable insight into school life, working alongside experienced education professionals to help students overcome barriers, engage with their learning and develop greater independence.
Your role in the school
As part of the school's wider support team, you'll provide tailored assistance to students with a range of additional needs, helping them participate in lessons and make the most of their education.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Delivering 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEN.
-
Helping pupils engage with lessons, activities and curriculum content.
-
Reinforcing key learning and explaining concepts where additional support is needed.
-
Encouraging students to remain focused, motivated and involved in their education.
-
Supporting the development of social, emotional and communication skills.
-
Assisting teachers with differentiated learning activities.
-
Creating positive and supportive relationships with students.
-
Collaborating with teachers, the SENCO and wider support staff.
-
Sharing relevant observations regarding student progress and wellbeing.
-
Promoting confidence, independence and positive learning habits.
Students may have a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD and dyslexia.
What will you bring to the team?
We're looking for graduates who understand that supporting young people requires more than academic ability. Your approach, communication skills and willingness to learn will be just as important.
Ideally, you'll have:
-
A strong academic background, preferably a 2:1 degree or above.
-
A genuine interest in working with young people.
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-
Patience, empathy and resilience.
-
A positive and encouraging attitude.
-
The ability to establish constructive relationships with students.
-
A willingness to develop your skills and understanding within the role.
Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable, but not essential.
Experience through tutoring, mentoring, volunteering, coaching or similar activities would be beneficial. However, we're also interested in graduates who can demonstrate the compassion, commitment and enthusiasm needed to support students effectively.
What could you take away from this opportunity?
For graduates considering a career in education, gaining first-hand experience can help develop both practical skills and a clearer understanding of the profession.
You'll have the opportunity to:
-
Build experience supporting students with additional needs.
-
Develop confidence in a secondary school classroom.
-
Strengthen your communication, mentoring and interpersonal abilities.
-
Gain insight into the responsibilities of teachers, LSAs and the wider SEN team.
-
Learn from experienced education professionals.
-
Access training and professional development opportunities.
-
Develop relevant experience for teacher training or future education-based careers.
-
Become part of a supportive and inclusive school community.
