KPI Education is partnering with a high-performing and inclusive secondary school in Barnet to recruit a Graduate Maths Academic Mentor for a September 2026 start.

The Role

As a Graduate Maths Academic Mentor, you will provide academic support to students through classroom assistance, targeted interventions, and personalised mentoring. You will play an important role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group Maths intervention sessions.
  • Support teachers during lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Assist students with GCSE Maths preparation and revision.
  • Explain mathematical concepts in an engaging and accessible way.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Encourage confidence, resilience, and independent learning.
  • Support students of varying abilities, including those requiring additional academic support.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal Graduate Maths Academic Mentor will have:

  • A minimum 2:1 degree in Mathematics or a closely related subject.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a good academic background.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive, patient, and enthusiastic approach.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Previous experience working with young people through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or schools (desirable but not essential).
  • A genuine interest in progressing into teaching or another education-based career.
