We're looking for a confident and enthusiastic Graduate Maths Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to use your mathematical knowledge in a practical setting while helping students build their confidence, develop their skills and achieve their potential.

 

What will you be doing?

As a Graduate Maths Teaching Assistant, you'll work alongside experienced Maths teachers to support students across the curriculum.

You'll provide additional guidance to pupils who need extra support, helping them understand challenging concepts and become more confident and independent learners.

Key responsibilities

As a Graduate Maths Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group supportto students in Maths
  • Help students understand mathematical concepts and apply their knowledge
  • Support pupils who may lack confidence in Maths or require additional guidance
  • Assist teachers with classroom activities and differentiated learning tasks
  • Encourage students to engage positively with their learning
  • Support students with problem-solving and independent study
  • Work collaboratively with Maths teachers and the wider support team
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback where appropriate

 

What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Mathematics or closely related degree, ideally at 2:1 or above
  • Strong mathematical knowledge and the ability to communicate ideas clearly
  • A genuine interest in working with young people
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, enthusiasm and a positive attitude
  • Previous experience working with children or young people (desirable, but not essential)

You don't need previous school experience. What's most important is your subject knowledge, confidence and enthusiasm for helping young people succeed.
