A supportive secondary school in Coventry is looking for a dedicated Graduate Maths Teaching Assistant to join its team. This is a fantastic chance to put your subject knowledge to use, support students with their learning and develop the classroom skills that can help you progress within education.
What does the role involve?
You'll work alongside experienced Maths teachers, providing additional support to students across the curriculum. You'll help pupils tackle challenging topics, develop their problem-solving skills and become more confident in their mathematical ability.
The role will involve working with students both individually and in small groups, as well as supporting the wider classroom.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group supportacross the Maths curriculum
- Helping students develop their understanding of key mathematical concepts
- Supporting pupils who need additional encouragement or guidance
- Assisting teachers with classroom activities and differentiated tasks
- Encouraging students to participate and engage positively with Maths
- Helping learners develop their confidence, reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Promoting independent learning and positive study habits
- Working closely with teachers and other members of the school support team
- Sharing feedback on student progress where appropriate
What are we looking for?
We're looking for a graduate who has:
- A Mathematics or closely related degree, ideally at 2:1 or above
- Strong mathematical knowledge and the ability to explain ideas clearly
- A genuine interest in working with young people
- Confident communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, enthusiasm and a positive approach
- Previous experience working with children or young people (desirable, but not essential)
Previous classroom experience isn't essential. We're particularly interested in graduates who can bring strong subject knowledge, enthusiasm and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
