A supportive secondary school in Coventry is looking for a motivated Graduate Maths Teaching Assistant to join its Maths department. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience in a school environment while using your degree to help students develop their mathematical knowledge and confidence.

What will you be doing?

You'll work alongside experienced Maths teachers to provide additional support to students across the curriculum.

Depending on the needs of the school, you'll have the opportunity to work 1:1, in small groups and within lessons, supporting pupils with different abilities and levels of confidence.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing targeted 1:1 and small-group Maths support
• Helping students break down and understand challenging concepts
• Supporting pupils with mathematical reasoning and problem-solving
• Encouraging students who lack confidence in their mathematical ability
• Helping learners develop independent study and learning strategies
• Assisting teachers with classroom activities and differentiated tasks
• Supporting positive engagement and participation in lessons
• Working closely with the Maths department and wider school team
• Providing feedback on students' progress where appropriate

Who are we looking for?

This role would suit a graduate who is confident with Maths and genuinely enjoys helping other people learn.

You'll ideally have:

• A Mathematics or closely related degree, ideally at 2:1 or above
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• The ability to explain concepts in a clear and accessible way
• Excellent communication skills
• A patient and encouraging approach
• The confidence to build positive relationships with young people
• A genuine interest in developing a career within education

Previous experience in a school isn't essential.

Tutoring, mentoring, coaching or other experience working with young people would be beneficial, but we're equally interested in graduates who can demonstrate the right attitude, enthusiasm and commitment to supporting students.
