Graduate Maths Teaching Assistant

Wolverhampton | Full-Time | £20,000–£25,000

Your mathematical knowledge could be someone else's breakthrough.

Are you a Mathematics graduate who enjoys finding solutions, explaining tricky concepts and helping others realise what they're capable of?

If you're exploring a future in teaching, tutoring or education, this could be an opportunity to gain valuable experience before taking your next career step.

KPI Education is working with a supportive secondary school in Wolverhampton seeking a Graduate Maths Teaching Assistant to join its team.

You'll have the chance to apply your degree in a practical setting, work alongside experienced teachers and help students develop the confidence to tackle Maths independently.

Step into the Maths department

You'll provide additional academic support to students across the curriculum, helping them work through challenging topics and develop a stronger understanding of mathematical principles.

With opportunities to work 1:1, in small groups and within classroom lessons, you'll gain experience supporting pupils with different abilities, learning needs and levels of confidence.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering 1:1 and small-group Maths support.

  • Helping students understand and apply mathematical concepts.

  • Making challenging topics more accessible through clear explanations.

  • Developing pupils' problem-solving, reasoning and independent learning skills.

  • Encouraging students who lack confidence in Maths.

  • Assisting teachers with classroom activities and differentiated learning tasks.

  • Promoting positive engagement and participation.

  • Helping learners develop greater independence in their studies.

  • Working collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team.

  • Sharing relevant observations and feedback on student progress.

The graduate we're looking for

You'll ideally have:

  • A Mathematics or closely related degree, preferably at 2:1 or above.

  • Strong mathematical knowledge and analytical ability.

  • The confidence to explain ideas clearly and adapt your communication.

  • A genuine interest in working with young people.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A patient, enthusiastic and supportive approach.

  • The ability to build positive relationships with students.

No previous classroom experience is required.

Tutoring, mentoring, coaching, volunteering or other experience with young people would be beneficial, but isn't essential. We're interested in graduates who have the right attitude, enthusiasm and motivation to help students make progress.

Build experience that could shape your future

This opportunity offers a practical introduction to secondary education, allowing you to develop skills that are valuable both inside and outside the classroom.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Gain hands-on experience supporting students with varied learning needs.

  • Develop your ability to communicate complex ideas simply and effectively.

  • Build mentoring skills and confidence working with young people.

  • Gain practical insight into classroom learning and support.

  • Learn from experienced teaching professionals.

  • Strengthen your transferable communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Develop relevant experience for teacher training, tutoring or a wider career in education.

Ready to put your degree into action?

If you're a Maths graduate looking for an opportunity to develop professionally, gain genuine school experience and help young people become more confident in their abilities, we'd love to hear from you.
