We are working with a supportive secondary school in Coventry who are looking for a dedicated Graduate Pastoral & Behaviour Mentor to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate looking to gain meaningful experience in education, particularly if you're considering a future career in teaching, pastoral support, youth work, psychology or SEND.

The Role

As a Graduate Pastoral & Behaviour Mentor, you'll work closely with students who may need additional support to engage positively with school and their learning.

You'll help students recognise barriers, develop positive strategies and build the confidence and independence they need to succeed.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group mentoring
• Building positive, professional relationships with students
• Supporting young people with behaviour, attendance and engagement
• Helping students develop confidence, resilience and independence
• Encouraging students to make positive choices and take responsibility for their actions
• Supporting students who may have additional needs or challenging circumstances
• Identifying barriers to learning and working with staff to address them
• Working closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team
• Helping promote a calm, respectful and inclusive school environment
• Acting as a consistent and positive role model throughout the school day

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for a graduate who is genuinely interested in working with young people and making a positive impact.

You'll ideally have:

• A minimum 2:1 degree
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A confident and approachable manner
• Patience, resilience and emotional awareness
• The ability to build positive relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries
• The confidence to remain calm and consistent when dealing with challenging situations
• A proactive and enthusiastic approach
• A genuine interest in developing a career within education or pastoral support

Previous experience working with young people is desirable but not essential.

Experience through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, volunteering, youth work or similar roles would be advantageous, but we're also keen to hear from graduates who can demonstrate the right attitude, personality and commitment to supporting students.
