Graduate Primary Learning Support Assistant 

KT16, Surrey | £510–£570 per week

Are you a graduate who enjoys working with children and wants to start a career in education?

We are looking for a Graduate Learning Support Assistant to join a friendly primary school in KT16, Surrey, supporting pupils across the school and helping them get the most out of their day.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is positive, adaptable and naturally good with children. You’ll work with pupils with different personalities, abilities and needs, so being able to change your approach and build a connection with each child is really important.

The role

You’ll work alongside teachers to support pupils throughout the school day. This could include classroom support, 1:1 assistance, small-group activities and helping pupils who require additional support.

You will:

  • Support pupils with their learning and classroom activities
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support where required
  • Encourage pupils to become more confident and independent
  • Build positive relationships with children
  • Support pupils with SEN and additional learning needs
  • Adapt your approach to suit different pupils
  • Work closely with teachers and the wider school team
  • Help maintain a positive, engaging classroom environment

What we're looking for

Essential requirements:

  • A 2:1 degree or above
  • Degree in a relevant subject such as Education, Psychology, Sociology, Childhood Studies, English, Maths, Sports or another related subject
  • A Levels completed within the UK
  • GCSEs completed within the UK
  • Strong communication skills
  • A genuine interest in working with children
  • An upbeat, approachable and positive personality
  • The ability to adapt to different pupils and situations
  • A reliable and professional approach

Experience

Previous experience working with children would be beneficial, particularly within:

  • SEN
  • Primary education
  • Social care
  • Childcare
  • Youth work
  • Tutoring or mentoring
  • Behaviour support

You don't necessarily need previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant. We're interested in graduates who have the right attitude, personality and ability to connect with children, as well as the academic background required for the role.
