As a Graduate Primary School Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with experienced teachers, supporting pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2. The Role
As a Graduate Primary School Teaching Assistant, you will support teaching and learning across the primary curriculum, helping pupils to build confidence, engage with lessons, and achieve their full potential.
Working closely with teachers and support staff, you will provide both classroom and intervention support, becoming an integral part of the school community from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2
- Deliver small-group and one-to-one intervention sessions
- Assist with literacy, numeracy, phonics, and wider curriculum activities
- Help pupils overcome barriers to learning and build confidence in the classroom
- Support the planning and delivery of engaging learning activities
- Promote positive behaviour and pupil engagement
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to maximise pupil progress
- Provide additional support for pupils with varying learning needs
Candidate Requirements
Essential
A minimum 2:1 degree from a UK university in one of the following subjects:
- Primary Education
- English
- Mathematics
- Psychology
- Childhood Studies
- Education Studies
- Sociology
- Early Childhood Studies
- Sports Science
- Physical Education
Creative Arts-related subjects
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine passion for education and supporting young people
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a proactive attitude
- An ambition to pursue a career in teaching, educational psychology, or wider education
Desirable
- Previous experience working with children in schools, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, youth work, or childcare settings
- Knowledge of the primary curriculum
- Experience supporting children with additional learning needs
