For this Graduate Primary SEN Teaching Assistant role, you must have recently completed a degree course or be due to finish this year, with the view to begin your new role as a Graduate Primary SEN Teaching Assistant. You should have some experience working with children with SEN, and be able to demonstrate a good understanding of their needs as well as excellent communication skills. Ideally, you will have completed a degree that is relevant to the position, such as Psychology or Social Work.

The main responsibility of this Graduate Primary SEN Teaching Assistant will be centred around behaviour management. Many of the pupils that you will be working with will have special educational needs such as Autism, ADHD, and other moderate learning difficulties. The successful candidates will be able to manage the behaviour of the pupils using their knowledge of autism and ADHD to create methods to ensure that the pupils remain focussed on the lessons being provided.

You will work on a one-to-one basis or in small groups of pupils who require additional SEN support. Many of the pupils that you will be working with will have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), it will be your responsibility with the support of the SEN Coordinator to ensure that these are being followed effectively.
