Ideal Candidate – Graduate Primary SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Minimum 2:1 degree (Psychology, Education, or related subject preferred)
  • Calm, patient, and emotionally intelligent
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Experience in SEN, youth work, tutoring, or mentoring is desirable but not essential
  • Must have the right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)

A caring and inclusive primary school in Stockport is seeking a Graduate Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil who has ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). The Role:

As a Graduate Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide consistent 1:1 support for a young pupil who requires additional help to access the curriculum. The focus of this role is to build a trusting, positive relationship, helping the child to manage their emotions, remain engaged in lessons, and make steady academic and social progress.

Your role will include assisting with classroom tasks, implementing behaviour and learning strategies, and working alongside the class teacher and SENCO to adapt lessons where necessary. No personal care is required, but patience, empathy, and a calm approach are essential.
