A supportive and inclusive mainstream primary school in Tunstall, Staffordshire is seeking a dedicated Graduate Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to work within Key Stage 1, supporting children with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and other additional learning needs. The Role
As a Graduate Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and specialist staff to provide tailored support to pupils at a crucial stage in their educational and emotional development. You will deliver one-to-one and small-group interventions, helping children access the curriculum, regulate emotions, and develop positive learning behaviours.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support for KS1 pupils with SEN.
- Support children with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and additional learning needs.
- Assist in implementing EHCP targets and individual support strategies.
- Support early literacy, numeracy, and communication development.
- Promote emotional regulation, focus, and positive behaviour.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals.
- Create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will:
- Hold a 2:1 or above in any degree discipline (Psychology, Education, or related subjects desirable).
- Demonstrate a strong interest in special educational needs and inclusive education.
- Be patient, empathetic, and resilient.
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Have experience working with children with SEN (desirable, but not essential).
