Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant – The Role
As a Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant, you will support teachers across the primary age range, helping pupils to engage with learning and build confidence in the classroom.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Delivering targeted interventions in literacy, numeracy, and phonics
- Assisting with day-to-day classroom activities and lesson delivery
- Encouraging pupil engagement, confidence, and participation
- Supporting children with additional needs, including SEND, helping them access learning and achieve positive outcomes
- Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
This Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant opportunity offers excellent experience for graduates considering teacher training or a long-term career in education.
Person Specification
We are keen to hear from graduates who have achieved a 2:1 degree or above, particularly in:
- Psychology
- Education Studies
- English, Maths, or Science
- Early Years Education
- Other relevant subjects
You should possess:
- A genuine passion for working with children
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, positive, and proactive attitude
- The ability to act as a strong role model
Previous experience working with young people through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, volunteering, childcare, or school placements is beneficial but not essential.
