Are you a graduate with a passion for supporting children and helping them achieve their full potential? We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming primary school in the Formby area for a dedicated and enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates looking to gain valuable classroom experience before pursuing a career in teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, or other child-focused professions.
The Role
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside experienced teachers to support pupils across the primary age range, delivering both classroom support and targeted interventions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
- Assisting teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management.
- Delivering intervention sessions to help pupils reach their learning goals.
- Supporting children with additional learning needs where required.
- Promoting a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
There is also the opportunity to increase your weekly earnings by picking up additional paid hours through the school's Breakfast Club and After School Club.
Requirements
- A degree in a relevant subject, such as:
- Psychology
- Childhood Studies
- Early Childhood Studies
- Early Years Education
- Education Studies
- Child Development
- Health & Social Care (Degree Level)
- Or another closely related discipline.
- Previous experience working with children is essential, whether in a primary school, nursery, childcare setting, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, youth work, or through relevant university placements or voluntary work.
- A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, reliable, and enthusiastic approach.
