Graduate Science Teaching Assistant - Candidate Specification
We are looking for a Graduate Science Teaching Assistant who:
- Graduate with a 2:1 or above in a Science-related subject from a respected university
- Strong Academic background through GCSE’s and A-Levels
- A long-term interest in education, teaching or working with young people
- Previous experience in a classroom, peer mentor or tutor is desirable but not essential
- Confident communicating your subject in a way that’s engaging and supportive
Graduate Science Teaching Assistant - Day-to-Day Responsibilities
As a Graduate Science Teaching Assistant, you’ll work alongside experienced science teachers to support pupils across KS3 and KS4. Your day will include:
- Supporting practical experiments and helping ensure health and safety in the lab
- Leading small-group interventions or 1:1 science sessions to stretch high-achievers or boost confidence
- Creating engaging revision resources, flashcards or quizzes
- Helping students with scientific writing, exam techniques and study skills
- Encouraging curiosity and questioning through discussion and hands-on learning
- Assisting with classroom organisation, displays and prep work
